A little about CranioSacral Therapy (CST):: started in the osteopath community as a means to gently release fascial tension. Upledger brought this work into the public arena in the ‘70’s because he felt many could benefit from it’s practice, not just licensed osteopaths performing it. Typically, a practitioner will begin at the base of the spine (sacrum) or the base of the skull ( occiput) & gently sense where tension is inside the body from the outside. CST works directly with central nervous system & about 1/2 cup of craniosacral fluid that runs down the spine & around the brain. The fluid has it’s own rhythm & waves that relate to how we integrate our stories during the day. We practitioners notice & follow the lines of restrictions in fascia & craniosacral fluid creating more space & mobility in the body, that positively impacts the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual layers.
I’m endorsed by WA state to perform intra oral craniosacral work. Intra Oral Craniosacral is gentle mouthwork to find and relieve tissue stress patterns for both adults, children & infants.

My Craniosacral treatments are a combination of modalities I learned over time. In my experience, touch is an integral part of community and a gateway to a deeper connectedness and awareness. In this work and my work at large I gently meet the tension in the system, allowing it to untwist and release. I use Craniosacral as a means to follow the body and its' wisdom to correct itself.
Craniosacral is a gentle, hands- on approach for evaluation and enhancing the functioning of cranio-sacral system, a physiological system surrounding the brain and spinal cord. This system influences the entire body by affecting the brain and spinal cord.
A treatment will often include palpation of head bones, spine and low back to locate patterns and gently influence corrections if need be. The work can be done anywhere on the body. The effect of Craniosacral can be felt throughout the whole body via the nervous, lymphatic, endocrine and circulatory systems.
The amount of treatments vary due to length of time one has experienced injury or trauma and its' severity.
• TMJ pain
• headaches of all kinds
• head traumas
• low back and neck pain whiplash injuries
• chronic fatigue, chronic pain
• PTS
• pre and post surgery
• neurological support

Carol Gray, a teacher and mentor in Portland, gracefully speaks to the roots of craniosacral work in the osteopath community here.

“The place where body mind and spirit interface. The cranio waves are fields of intelligence and information enabling the sensitive observer to detect what the bodymind needs to be more in touch with spirit, the guiding force of our lives. When referring to spirit, I’m referring to an energy force or what is really living us now, what give us life. To me, Spirit is not a thing, but rather an alive illuminating force that lives us, guides us in our lives. Our breathing is the most obvious rhythm of the body, our heart beating the next most obvious, and our cranial waves are the third and most subtle rhythms of all.”
